Clinging to hillsides west of the Borrels valley in Hyères, Domaine Saint Albert still operates today according to the oldest cultural precepts of Provence. Meet Olivier Foucou, who loves work well-done and is the worthy heir of two families of winemakers, whose origins date back more than seven centuries.
Reflecting weather and vintages, the domain’s old vines deliver expressive wines, heady, complex and aromatic. Each vintage expresses a soil worked with great respect. As an example, an old plough is still used for ploughing plots.
For the wedding of Prince Albert and Charlene Wittstock in July 2011, Olivier Foucou delivered a special edition of 140 magnums of the 2010 vintage in rosé and white, and of the 2007 vintage in red. It was a wedding gift for a Prince who discovered the wines of the Foucou family in one of the Principality ‘s reputed restaurants.
