Presentation

The Sumeire family, owners of Font-Freye since 1933, acquired this large estate near Pierrefeu-du-Var in 1958. Once church-owned and a summer residence for the bishops of Toulon, the property is unique in bearing two names: Château La Tour de l’Évêque and Château La Tour Sainte Anne.

Extra

Our practices: organic farming, biodynamic methods, horse-drawn plowing, hand harvesting, vineyard sorting, massal selection. Our principles: respect for the terroir, gravity-fed vinification, experiments with indigenous yeasts, whole-cluster pressing, traditional Champagne-style press.

Original and unusual

The name Sainte Anne is believed to come from a chapel that was once a place of pilgrimage. The estate’s history is deeply rooted in the heritage of Provence and France. Régine Sumeire continues the family’s legacy. At the end of 2010, a major project was launched to expand the winery and facilities for bottling and storage, all designed around the principle of gravity flow. The winery was fully operational for the 2011 harvest.
