Presentation

The tower which gave its name to the domain wasn’t built by the Romans who already worked the land around, nor was it by a medieval lord. No, it was built in the ‘60s by a visionary winemaker who thought that a round stepped winery, allowing a vinification by gravity, would bring the wine at its best. This quest for quality still inspires Emmanuelle Baude, the new owner.

Extra

By 2015, on sunny days, Emmanuelle Baude will offer open house days combining tasting, cellar tour and walk through the vineyards and woods. She is currently working on trail development with the help of ESAT Louis Philibert, also located in the town of Le Puy-Sainte-Réparade.

Original and unusual

Domaine Tour Campanets has 60 acres of Syrah planted in 1947. It’s almost unique in a region where this grape varietal from the Rhone Valley has only prevailed in the’60s. This presence is all the more remarkable that the almost 70-year-old vineyard remains beautiful, even as the younger ones in Provence have shown a relative fragility. There are some missing vine stocks in the plot, hence the nickname "toothless old lady," but the vast majority are in good shape and annually produce grapes of high quality.
