According to legend, the Chouans (people loyal to the King during the French Revolution) came to hide in the town of Pourcieux where they concealed their hypothetical treasure, which has been actively sought ever since. It is in homage to this ‘land of smugglers’ that the Garcia and Pelenc families created their Château des Brigands. Sandrine, her sister-in-law Annie, her brother Stephane and her husband Ludovic are the four brigands who combine their talents to produce these wines of character.
Château des brigands stands apart for its family atmosphere, friendliness and simplicity of its welcome. The four family members share a passion for the work of vine and wine, which they like to share with the amateurs who come to them.
Somewhat uncommon, Château des Brigands bottles its wines in a size range going from the classic half bottle (37.5 cl) to Balthazar which contains no less than 12 litres of wine! Tastings are on reservation only, in a relaxed atmosphere around a big barrel and in the middle of the vat room.
