Presentation

At the heart of the village of Pourcieux lives a winemaker Marquis. Château de Pourcieux was long a country residence for one of the oldest families of Aix-en-Provence; it is now a beautiful vineyard in the pure tradition of Provence. Besides the gourmand rosés that make the reputation of the house, lovely red wines for ageing are worth discovering.

Extra

To seduce the Big Apple and, more broadly, good wines lovers, he has modernized his cellar, renouncing the 18th-century tiled tubs buried in the castle basement for thermo-regulated ones, which ensure perfect quality rosé wines, with salmon colour, rich and fruity nose and a sweet palate.

Original and unusual

The park of the Chateau of Pourcieux is separated from the first plots by a high embankment. This is the Carnoules-Gardanne railway track. Once used to transport bauxite and wine from Provence, this route is now “neutralized defence.” It is no longer active but is maintained for Army needs to the delight of tourists who benefit of the Sainte-Baume “vélorail”, and can therefore connect on calf-power alone the train stations of Pourcieux and St. Maximin.
