Presentation

In the very heart of "Green Provence" and at the gates of the "Haut-Var", halfway between the Gorges du Verdon and the Mediterranean Sea, it is at Cotignac, one of the most beautiful villages of "Green Provence", that you will discover "Château Carpe Diem". An vineyard as peaceful as it is gourmet. Wishing to give meaning to their lives and build something sustainable, in 2013 the Philippon-Vilgrain family took over from Francis and Laurence Adam, creators of Carpe Diem. They perpetuate the values which, since more than 25 years, have made the success of this vineyard: conviviality, respect of the land and soil, the quality of the wines which are the true expression of our terroir. The vineyard is cultivated according to the principles of organic farming, and certified by « Ecocert ». Today, it covers around 30 hectares of AOP Côtes de Provence, AOP Coteaux Varois en Provence and IGP Var.

Extra

If you don’t come to Carpe Diem, Carpe Diem will come to you! Alberic Philippon goes every Tuesday on the farmers’ market of Cotignac to sale his wines. It’s a great opportunity to combine gourmandise and discovery while walking basket in hand, in one of the prettiest villages in the Var.

Original and unusual

Carpe Diem is a famous Latin phrase meaning, “Seize the day.” The paternity of the formula backs to Horace. This contemporary Roman poet of Octavian, Brutus and Mark Antony, used it in one of his Odes. It has become over the years a favourite maxim of hedonists.
