Presentation

My ultimate goal is the aromas.” Christian Bastard isn’t a loud person; he is even rather laid back. But when he talks about his wine, we can tell how much this winemaker is driven by a true passion and full commitment. As a young farmer in 1991, he was growing fruits, vegetables and grains, as most traditional Provencal farms did. He had a few vines here and there. “In 2005 I created my domain. To name it, my wife and I have just assembled the first syllable of both our names.

Extra

The departmental domain of Caireval, near the Domaine Bagrau and rich of 150 hectares in the municipality of Rognes, is from a legacy established in the early 20th century. A witness of the quality of the county forest heritage, it offers plenty of marked trails accessible by foot or mountain bike. On clear days, there is even a view of the sea.

Original and unusual

The old farm of the Bastard family, like many old buildings, was built with salvaged materials found around the site. Thus, a tombstone of Roman origin was used for one of the walls. Scraped, cleaned, it reveals the name of Pomarus, whose history is silent ... if anything it gives its name to a prestigious cuvee of Domaine Bagrau!
