Like many Bellet families, the Cohendets were making wine as amateurs until Robert decided to take it to a professional level. He has always honoured this status in his 15-year career. But recently, Robert passed the torch to his son Nicolas.
While it may not always be able to offer its wines for tasting, for lack of available stock, Domaine Via Julia Augusta always takes part in three festive events of the AOC Bellet: the presentation of the new vintage in May The Christmas tasting in early December, and the feast of St. Vincent, patron saint of winegrowers in January.
Via Julia Augusta’s winery occupies the annex of Cottage Beauséjour, a former hotel long run by Yannick’s family. The barrel cellar is none other than the old building's water tank. The vats are installed in place of the farm that fed the customers. However, the wooden door that keeps the storeroom is not original. It comes from a Var prison dating from the last century. Here the house wines are well kept.
